Applying for Membership

There are now 500 Members from all over Dorset and some from neighbouring counties. If you live locally and also have an interest in gardens and garden history, the Trust would provide you with a lively and friendly forum for discussion, debate, conservation and occasionally campaigning.

Each year the Trust organizes lectures and visits within and outside Dorset for those members who wish to widen their knowledge of the history of gardens and designed landscapes, and members receive a regular newsletter. We have an active programme of recording the gardens, landscapes and garden buildings of importance in the County. We provide funding to support important garden restoration works and we promote awareness of gardening in schools.

Funding for DGT’s conservation activities comes from members' subscriptions; the profits from a full year-round programme of visits for members only, and lectures for which members have priority in booking; and our major fund raising open event, the Garden Day, now a biennial summer fixture. Our three most recent Garden Days were at Chideock Manor earlier this year, Thornhill in 2008, and Parnham in 2006.

Annual subscriptions are £10 for single membership, £15 for joint membership and £20 for corporate membership.
