We are delighted to welcome as our Christmas lecturer Fergus Garrett from Great Dixter, the garden created by the late great Chiristopher LLoyd.

In 1992 Fergus  became head gardener at Great Dixter, working closely with Christopher Lloyd until Christopher’s death in 2006.

The Gardening Mind - Zoom Lecture

THE GARDENING MIND      Friday April 23   6.30pm.In this talk, Sue Stuart- Smith, a distinguished  psychiatrist and avid gardener offers an inspiring and consoling work about the healing effects of gardening and its ability to decrease stress and foster well-being in our everyday lives.She is the author of The Well Gardened Mind a Sunday Times Bestseller. She is married to the celebrated garden designer, Tom Stuart -Smith and together they have created the wonderful Barn Garden  in Hertfordshire.

 

Plant Hunting in the Himalayas - Zoom Lecture

Starts at 10:30am

Mark Bobin, who has been head gardener at Minterne for 5 years, will tell us about his fascinating trip to the Himalayan state of Arunachal Pradesh.

This talk takes you to North-East India on an expedition to study the plants and their surroundings, in particular rhododendrons and the environment in which they thrive. The plan was to climb the hills of Mipi in the Himalayan state of Arunachal Pradesh, however, there were many twists and turns during the trip and not everything went according to plan.

 

Twickenham Luminaries: A Virtual Lecture Series

We have come across this very interesting series of lectures which were held back in September; however they are all accessible on YouTube.   The five lectures included places such as Orleans House Gallery, Marble Hill House, Strawberry Hill, Alexander Pope, his Villa & Grotto and Sir John Soane & J.M.W Turner's House.  All were well presented with about 20-25 minutes of detailed history followed by a Q&A.
