This wonderful secluded garden in the centre of Hambledon village featured on the television in 2017 in the programme ‘All Gardens Great and Small’ The owner was the presenter who visited gardens to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the NGS. The owner is extremely knowledgeable on plants and the garden is filled with a wide variety of unusual shrubs and perennials with wonderful plant combinations. There are 3 acres of partly walled plantsman’s garden . In 2011 a large central area was planted giving the garden an exciting new dimension. The house was built by Edward Hale, surgeon and farmer, in the early 1760’s , and remained in the Hale family for one hundred years. Since then, four other families have lived
there, two of them adding extensions to the house in the 1960s and 1980s. The current owners moved there in 1984.
