About: The present house was built in 1742 by Sir William Napier. Sir Humphry Sturt added extra rooms arounfd the original core and brought in Thomas Wyatt to design the interiors. The first Lord Allington conducted further works in 1876 , making changes to the stable block and adding a north wing and gate lodge

The estate was sold to Richard and Maureen Chilton in 2013 and the have continued to restore the church, house and gardens.

60 acre park, 40 acre lake and 3 acre walled garden surrounding Crichel House split into 3 distinctive parts. Mature trees inc exceptional cedars form the backdrop to the Walled Garden which was set out in 1976 and recently over the last 9 yrs. Box hedges and paths lead into herbaceous borders. Lime avenue flanked by orchards, leads to reflecting pond completed by a stone pavilion and 7 individual secret gardens. An average of 100,000 perennial spring bulbs have been plated each yr for the last 5 yrs. The annual display starts early with naturalised snowdrops then leading into daffodils, crocuses and bluebells. Varieties of daffodils inc Mount Hood, White Lion and Carlton to name but a few.
